Taqueria El Chefe runs a halal Mexican street-food kitchen in the NE best known for birria tacos — genuinely one of the more interesting halal openings in Calgary in the last couple of years, and proof the scene here is broadening past the usual suspects.
Halal groceries and butchers
Cooking at home is still how most halal households in Calgary actually eat day to day, and the grocery side of the map gets far less attention than restaurants. 786 Meat & Groceries Store in the NE is one of the top-rated halal butchers on the whole site — worth knowing about even if you're not local to Falconridge, since a 5.0 rating on a butcher (not just a restaurant) is unusual enough to be worth the drive.
Eat and pray without a special trip
One of the newer things Halal Calgary tracks is which locations have an actual on-site prayer space, not just "halal food nearby."
