Taqueria El Chefe is at 2316 27 Ave NE. It’s a halal Mexican street food kitchen built around birria tacos. It has 4.6 stars on Google. The kitchen says it uses halal meat throughout. Here’s what to order:
- Birria tacos are the reason to go. They’re slow-braised, dipped, and served with consommé for dunking.
- Quesadillas are the other safe pick if you want something less messy.

BarBurrito is a different story. Its Calgary stores serve halal chicken and say so on a sign at the counter.
