No, Domino's is not halal in Calgary. Domino's Canada's own ingredient guide lists its pepperoni as pork and beef, and nothing on its Canadian menu claims to be halal, chicken included. That also answers "is Domino's halal in Canada". The company publishes one national ingredient guide, and it never mentions halal.
I didn't want to guess, so I read what Domino's itself publishes. Here's what it says, and the halal pizza to order instead.
What Domino's Canada says about halal
Nothing at all. On 2 November 2026 I read three things:
- the customer service FAQ on dominos.ca;
- the national Nutrition Guide, dated August 2026, which lists the ingredients of every topping;
- the online menus of the 35 stores its store finder lists in and around Calgary, from Airdrie and Cochrane to Okotoks and High River.
The word "halal" isn't in any of them. A chain with halal meat says so, the way Wingstop Canada does. Domino's doesn't.
Domino's in Canada has its own company, Domino's Pizza of Canada Ltd, with customer care in Tecumseh, Ontario, and its own national ingredient guide. In most other countries a separate company holds the franchise, so answers about those Domino's don't apply here.
The pork on Domino's Canadian menu
The pork isn't hidden. These are the meat toppings on the Calgary menus, and what Domino's own guide says they're made of.
| Topping | Made from | Halal? |
|---|---|---|
| Pepperoni | Pork and beef | No, pork |
| Brooklyn Pepperoni | Pork and beef | No, pork |
| Sausage (Italian sausage) | Pork | No, pork |
| Ham | Pork | No, pork |
| Bacon Strip Crumble | Pork | No, pork |
| Chicken | Grilled chicken breast | No halal claim |
| Beef Crumble, Philly Steak, Donair Meat | Beef | No halal claim |
| Salami (on 23 of the 35 menus) | Not listed in the guide | No halal claim |
Bacon goes well beyond the toppings, too. It's in the bacon poutines, the Bacon Garlic Fingers, two of the Specialty Chicken flavours and pizzas like the Chicken Bacon Ranch. The Italian sausage turns up in a pasta. On the map, any pork on the menu rules out a fully halal kitchen, and Domino's has pork from one end of the menu to the other. Papa John's is the same story.
Is Domino's chicken halal?
Not by anything Domino's says. The guide lists the pizza chicken as grilled chicken breast, and it lists the wings and the breaded boneless chicken too. None of them comes with a halal claim, a named supplier or a certifier. The beef is the same: the beef crumble, Philly steak and donair meat are listed as beef, and that's all. Treat every meat at Domino's as regular meat.
The cheese pizza question
The usual workaround is a cheese or veggie pizza. Domino's lists a microbial enzyme in its pizza cheese, so animal rennet isn't the worry there. The guide doesn't say where the lipase in its feta, provolone and parmesan comes from, or the enzymes and L-cysteine in its dough. The bigger worry is the kitchen. Domino's own FAQ says even its gluten-free pizza is made in a common kitchen, and that kitchen handles pork pepperoni and bacon all day.
Many people accept a meat-free pizza from a shared kitchen. The strictest don't. That's your call, and what to eat when a chain has no halal option covers how to ask. If you'd rather not think about it at all, skip ahead to the halal pizza.
What about the "halal Domino's" I heard about?
One website says a few Canadian franchise owners have bought halal chicken on their own. It names no store, gives no date and shows no certificate, and I couldn't confirm it. As of November 2026, no Domino's menu in the Calgary area says halal.
Closer to home, the community halal map pins the Domino's in Tuscany NW for a halal chicken topping. That store's online menu says nothing about halal, so treat it as a lead, not an answer, and ask the questions below before you order.
Search results also mix in Domino's from other countries, where other companies run the stores with their own menus. That tells you nothing about the Domino's on 17 Ave SW. If a Calgary store ever tells you it has halal meat, ask three things: which items, who supplies them, and can you see the certificate. The certification guide explains what a good answer looks like.
What to order instead: halal pizza in Calgary
You don't need Domino's for a pepperoni, a Hawaiian or a meat pizza. These kitchens make them halal. The halal pizzerias come first, and all of them list delivery.
Carmine's Pizzeria - Northmount NW
Carmine's on Northmount Drive NW is a New York-style pizzeria where the whole menu is halal, from the pizzas to the pastas and garlic bread. It's rated 4.5. Regulars go for the Mediterranean and the Donair Pie, and the O.G. and the Hawaiian are worth a try. Feeding a crowd? Order ahead, and a stack of larges is ready in about 25 minutes.
Savona's Pizza - Memorial Dr NE and 16 Ave NW
Savona's makes its ham and pepperoni from halal beef, so even the Hawaiian is halal. Both shops rate 4.6: the one on Memorial Drive NE and the 16 Avenue NW shop. Of the shops here, it's the closest thing to a late Domino's run. As of November 2026, Memorial Drive lists hours to 1am most nights and 2am on Friday and Saturday. Get the donair pizza or the deluxe, and add wings.
Cosmic Pizza & Donair - three Calgary shops
Cosmic is an Alberta chain that is 100% halal, pepperoni included. At Heritage Drive SE (4.6), the ham, bacon and pepperoni are the chain's halal versions, so you can build a meat pizza like Domino's MeatZZa and keep it halal. It keeps set hours, so call before you drive over. Crowchild on 54 Ave SW (4.2) is known for a juicy, well-topped pepperoni pizza. Nolan Hill (4.3) is takeout and delivery only, and the chicken pizzas are the pick there.
Pizza Bae - Bowness Rd NW
Pizza Bae in Montgomery is the best-rated here, at 4.8. It's wood-fired, with 100% halal ingredients across the menu. The Donair Pizza is the one people cross the city for. Domino's Calgary menus have donair meat too, but it comes with no halal claim.
Halal Pizza Factory - JacksonPort
Near Cityscape and the airport, Halal Pizza Factory (4.4) puts the answer in its name: everything it makes is halal. The 14-inch square pizza is the usual order, and donair meat is one of the toppings.
The chain swap: Pizza 73, with a catch
If you want a big Alberta delivery chain, Pizza 73 has a halal menu. It sells halal pepperoni and a halal menu at participating stores. But those kitchens also make regular pepperoni, and Pizza 73's own store pages tell you to confirm in store. The Royal Oak store goes furthest, with its own halal list of toppings (ground beef, pepperoni, donair meat, chicken breast, tandoori chicken and shawarma chicken) and halal bone-in wings fried in separate oil. Call that store directly to order it. How Pizza 73's halal menu works lists the other stores.
There's more in the halal pizza guide, and every shop is under Pizza on the map.
The short version
No. Domino's Canada's own guide lists the pepperoni as pork and beef, the ham, bacon and sausage as pork, and no halal meat at all. No Calgary-area store claims halal, and the kitchens are shared. For a halal pepperoni, Hawaiian or donair pizza, order from Carmine's, Savona's, Cosmic or Pizza Bae instead. For every other chain, see which fast-food chains are halal in Calgary.
Common questions
Is Domino's halal in Calgary?
No. Domino's Canada's own Nutrition Guide lists its pepperoni as pork and beef, and its ham, bacon and Italian sausage as pork. As of November 2026, none of the 35 Domino's stores in and around Calgary says halal on its online menu, and the chain makes no halal claim for its chicken or beef. The community halal map pins the Tuscany store for a halal chicken topping, but its menu doesn't say so; ask in store before you count on it.
Is Domino's halal in Canada?
No. Domino's Pizza of Canada publishes one national ingredient guide, and it never mentions halal. One website says a few franchise owners have bought halal chicken on their own, but it names no store, shows no certificate, and I couldn't confirm it. Answers about Domino's in other countries don't apply here, because other companies run those stores with their own menus.
Is Domino's chicken halal?
Not by anything Domino's Canada says. Its guide lists the pizza chicken as grilled chicken breast, and it lists the wings and boneless chicken too, with no halal claim, supplier or certifier for any of them. Treat Domino's chicken as regular chicken.
Is Domino's pepperoni pork?
Yes. Domino's Canada lists both its pepperoni and its Brooklyn pepperoni as pork and beef. Halal pizzerias use halal pepperoni instead. Savona's Pizza on Memorial Drive NE makes its pepperoni and ham from halal beef, and Cosmic Pizza & Donair is 100% halal, pepperoni included.
Does Domino's use pork?
Yes, a lot of it. The pepperoni, ham, bacon and Italian sausage on the Canadian menu all contain pork. Bacon also goes into the bacon poutines, the Bacon Garlic Fingers and several specialty pizzas and chicken flavours. It's all made in one shared kitchen, so the pork is never far from anything else you order.
Does Domino's have a halal pizza?
No. Nothing on the Canadian menu is sold as halal. A cheese or veggie pizza has no meat, and the pizza cheese lists a microbial enzyme rather than animal rennet, though the guide doesn't say where the dough's enzymes or the lipase in its other cheeses come from. But it's made in the same kitchen as the pork toppings, which the strictest eaters won't accept. For halal pizza with meat on it, go to a fully halal shop like Carmine's Pizzeria or Pizza Bae.
Is Domino's donair pizza halal?
No. Domino's Calgary menus offer donair meat, and its guide lists it as beef. But there's no halal claim or supplier, and it's made beside the pork toppings. For a halal donair pizza, Pizza Bae in Montgomery and Savona's are good places to start.
What is the best halal alternative to Domino's in Calgary?
For a halal pizzeria, try Pizza Bae (4.8), Savona's (4.6) or Carmine's (4.5). Savona's on Memorial Drive NE stays open latest of the three, to 1am most nights as of November 2026. For a chain, Pizza 73 has halal pepperoni at participating stores, in shared kitchens. The halal pizza guide has the full list.
