Mostly yes, with one asterisk worth reading. Popeyes' Canadian chicken supply is halal-certified chain-wide by IFANCA, the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council — which is more than almost any other national chain in this country can say. It is also one location short of a full answer, because certification and practice are decided restaurant by restaurant, and the honest unit of trust is the store in front of you, not the brand above the door.
What is actually certified
The chicken. IFANCA certifies the Canadian supply chain, which means the bird that arrives at a Calgary Popeyes was raised and processed under a named, published standard — the strongest form of evidence there is, and the thing this city's halal scene almost never has. Of the 261 places on our map, exactly one names the body that certified it, and it is Popeyes on 17 Ave SW: 4.5 stars across nearly 5,000 reviews, IFANCA-certified supply, and confirmed halal by the local Muslim community on top of it.
What the certification does not automatically cover is everything else: the sides, the fryers, and whatever an individual franchise does differently. That is why our own listing says to glance for the certificate at the counter on a first visit — certification can vary by location, and thirty seconds of looking beats any website's word, including ours.
Why this is not the KFC situation
People lump the chicken chains together, and the situations are genuinely different. KFC's halal programme is real but Ontario-only, so in Calgary the answer is no. Popeyes' certification is national and supply-chain level, so in Calgary the answer starts at yes and narrows to "confirm your store." Mary Brown's sits in between — some locations, not others. How to confirm your Popeyes in thirty seconds
Ask two things at the counter. Is the chicken here halal? — at a certified store the staff answer this all day and will not blink. Is the certificate posted? — IFANCA paperwork has the issuer's name on it, and stores that have it tend to display it. If the answers are vague, treat that location as unconfirmed and drive on; in this city you are never far from an alternative.

Calgary's independent halal fried chicken is good enough that Popeyes is a choice, not a fallback.
Cluck N Cleaver in the Beltline is a halal fried chicken specialist — crispy, well-seasoned breading in the fried-chicken-sandwich tradition, 1,100-plus reviews. Seoul Fried Chicken in Mission switched its Calgary locations to a fully halal menu: double-fried Korean wings and drumsticks in soy garlic and gochujang BBQ. Shenny's does Pili Pili-style crispy chicken and holds a 5.0. Cluck Clucks in Sage Hill covers the chicken-and-waffles end. And Chicken On The Way — a Calgary institution — serves halal-certified fried chicken and has an on-site prayer space, community-confirmed.
