Two different questions get asked here, and most listings only answer the first. Where is the nearest masjid? And: can I pray where I am already eating? This page answers both, because the second one is the awkward one — you are out with family, maghrib is in twenty minutes, and nobody wants to end the meal early to drive somewhere.

The two that never close

Al-Madinah Calgary Islamic Assembly — the Green Dome mosque in the northeast — is open 24 hours, with a large car park and the Green Dome Islamic School on site. Fairview Southeast Mosque, run by the IISC, is the same round the clock in the southeast.

Those two are the answer to fajr before a flight, isha after a late shift, and every hour that a mosque with ordinary opening times cannot cover.

Four more list themselves as open around the clock, all added in the August 2026 sweep of the community's own lists: Al-Ansaar Islamic Centre on 63 Ave NE, Imam Azam Islamic Centre in Westwinds, Hazrat Bilal Islamic Center in Saddlestone, and Jamia Masjid Riyadhul Jannah in Airdrie. That is Google's listing rather than our own visit, so for a 3am fajr the two above remain the ones we would stake a drive on.

Northeast

Akram Jomaa Islamic Centre on 39 Ave NE is one of Calgary's largest mosques — a separate ladies' prayer hall, a big car park, and the capacity for a full Jumu'ah or Eid jama'ah. It is the one to plan around on a Friday.

Abu Bakr Islamic Centre is a quieter, family-friendly musallah on the first floor of the Franklin Atrium building, and Alfalah (ACIC) is a newer one inside the Action Dignity Society building on 33 St NE. Both are five-daily-prayer spaces rather than event venues, which is exactly what you want mid-errand.

Further out, Al-Hedaya Islamic Centre has served Saddle Ridge, Martindale, Castleridge, Coral Springs, Falconridge and Taradale since 2008, and Dawat-e-Islami Canada in Westwinds runs teaching gatherings alongside the five salah.

Five more northeast mosques came onto the map in August 2026 from Zabihah and the community-run Halal Map YYC. Two sit a few blocks apart in Greenview: Masjid Bilal Da'wa Center on 6A St NE and the IISC's own centre on 6 St NE, which holds Jumu'ah at 12:30 and 1:30 with limited parking. Imam Azam Islamic Centre is in Westwinds, Al-Ansaar on 63 Ave NE, and Hazrat Bilal Islamic Center serves Saddlestone and the new communities along the northern edge. All three list 24-hour access.

Downtown, and the weekday prayer break

The Downtown Calgary Mosque on 7 Ave SW is the one that solves dhuhr on a workday — it is busiest precisely then, which tells you what it is for. Also IISC-run.

East of Centre Street there is now a second answer: the Calgary Downtown Musalla, run by the Muslim Council of Calgary on 8 Ave SE, open 7am to 11pm with three Jumu'ah sittings at 12:00, 12:45 and 1:30. Parking is limited, as it is everywhere downtown; the point of it is that you can walk there from the east side of the core.

Southwest, northwest, southeast

Calgary Islamic Centre SW is one of the oldest mosques in the city, a spacious green-domed masjid with ample parking, and still a central gathering point. The Islamic Association of NW Calgary in Ranchlands runs Quran classes and Ramadan programmes for children alongside Friday prayers.

The northwest gained a second: Al-Salam Centre on Ranchview Dr NW, a short walk from the Islamic Association, with Jumu'ah at 1:00 and 2:00 and limited parking.

In the southeast, Abu Huraira Musalla is a small, clean, no-frills room run by the Al Azhar Youth Center — useful to know if you are eating your way along the 17 Ave SE halal strip. It now has company on the same strip: Al-Huda Musallah on 17 Ave SE and the Alkawthar Community Centre a block over on 16 Ave SE, both five-daily-prayer rooms. And the deep south, which this page used to describe as "Fairview and not much else", has the Islamic Centre of South Calgary in Legacy, open 9am to 10pm with Jumu'ah at 1:45.

Outside the city, Airdrie's Jamia Masjid Riyadhul Jannah on 2 Ave NE holds Jumu'ah at 2:30.

Shia congregations

Calgary Imambargah, the Hussaini Association, has been going since 1986 and is one of the oldest Shia institutions in the city. Bab-ul-Hawaij Islamic Centre in the northeast was established in 2014 and has separate prayer spaces for men and women.

This is the part no other listing has, and the reason this site tracks it as its own filter. These are ordinary businesses — restaurants, a grocer, a burger shop — that keep a prayer space on site.

  • D Spot Dessert Cafe on 17 Ave SW, open to midnight and to 2am on Friday and Saturday. Dessert at 1am on a weekend and a place to pray, in the same room.
  • Chatkhara in Castleridge, and Karahi Boys on Falsbridge Dr NE — both full South Asian sit-down meals.
  • Haveli Sweets & Restaurant on Falshire Dr NE, for mithai and a meal.
  • Chicken On The Way in Temple, and Flipp'n Burgers on 10 St NW — the latter is also the only place in Calgary with both a prayer room and a patio, which sounds like trivia until it is July and maghrib is at 9:45pm.
  • Canadian Pizza Unlimited on 52 Ave NW — unlimited toppings and a prayer room is a genuinely odd pairing, and a useful one.
  • Calgary Shawarma on Edmonton Trail NE — a small counter on the way in and out of the city centre, which is the useful thing about it: it is the prayer stop that is not in the deep NE.
  • Ishtar Restaurant on Macleod Trail SW — one of only two businesses on this entire list south of the river with a prayer room, which makes it worth remembering out of proportion to how often you would otherwise eat there.
  • Two grocers, for when the shop is the errand: Zak's Mart on Macleod Trail S and Calgary Produce Market in Westwinds.

Friday prayers in rec centres and church halls

On a Friday the mosques are not the whole answer. The Muslim Council of Calgary and local congregations hold Jumu'ah in rented halls across the suburbs, and the community-run Halal Map YYC keeps the times. None of these is a mosque — there is no prayer room on Tuesday — so they carry the Prayer Space tag rather than Place of Worship, and the building's own opening hours on the listing have nothing to do with the prayer.

These are the most perishable entries on the site: a hall booking ends, a congregation outgrows a gym. Treat the times as where to start, not as a promise, and if one has moved, tell us.

Where the mosques actually are

Worth knowing before you rely on "there will be somewhere nearby", because there often will not be. Twenty-three mosques and musallas sit on this map inside Calgary, plus Airdrie's, and twelve of the twenty-three are in the NE. Downtown has two, one each side of Centre Street. The NW has two. The whole of the rest of the south — SE and SW together — has seven.

What that means in practice: in the NE you can generally drive ten minutes in any direction and find somewhere, and the restaurants back it up with six prayer rooms of their own. In the deep south you are planning around Fairview and, since 2026, Legacy; downtown you are planning around two. The two 24-hour mosques we have stood in are both on the outer edges — Green Dome in the NE, Fairview in the SE — so the round-the-clock option is rarely the close one.

Before you drive

Every one of these is community-confirmed rather than certified by anybody, and a prayer space inside a business is exactly the kind of thing that changes without announcement — a room gets used for storage, a lease changes hands. It is worth a phone call if you are making the trip specifically for it, and the number is on every listing.
