I recently ordered from Afghan Chatkhara Restaurant and had a very disappointing experience due to poor communication and incorrect food delivery. I asked about “Kebab Karahi” and the staff member literally said, “I don’t even know what Kebab Karahi is.” She then directed me to select from the menu, so I chose Khebar Tikka Karahi, expecting it to be grilled tikka-style meat cooked in a karahi as described (or at least prepared on the grill as is common for such dishes). What I received at home was completely different—not the grilled tikka version I ordered. When I called back to complain and clarify, the same staff member (or another) now claimed that the “grill is called Kebab Karahi,” contradicting her earlier statement that she had no idea what it was. This flip-flopping shows a clear lack of knowledge about their own menu and poor training. The service felt careless and unprofessional, and I ended up with the wrong dish despite clearly stating my selection. I do not recommend this place if you expect accurate orders or basic menu understanding from the staff. Very frustrating and pathetic service overall.

Not sure if they know how to run a business. Both phone numbers listed outside don’t even work, so ordering ahead isn’t possible. Almost everyone here was just ordering naan. I only needed 12, while other people were ordering 20, 30, even 50. Don’t understand why they take one person at a time, wait until the entire order is completed, then move to the next person when there’s constantly a line of 6+ people and each order takes 10+ minutes. At least take everyone’s order first and give proper wait times so people can sit in their car with AC or do other errands instead of standing inside a hot shop with no AC on a hot summer day.

Today I visited Chatkharas Afghan Restaurant and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I had pre-ordered several naan breads by phone and specifically asked them to have them ready. When I arrived, I also ordered two garlic naans on the spot, and those were fresh and good because they were cooked in front of me. However, the pre-ordered naans were clearly not fresh. They tasted stale and seemed to be reheated. I even saw staff reheating naans inside the restaurant. After eating the pre-ordered naan, I started vomiting about two hours later, which was very concerning. I also noticed a lot of dust on surfaces inside the restaurant, which made the environment look unclean. At the time of payment, the staff member first told me the total was $13.58, but then he increased the amount without clear explanation. I paid by card and was not given a receipt. As a customer in Canada, I expect proper hygiene standards, fresh food, transparency in billing, and professional service. Sadly, this experience did not meet those expectations. I sincerely request Alberta Health Services to inspect this restaurant to ensure food safety and cleanliness standards are being followed.

The service was excellent, and the food was very good value for money. Although the restaurant is not fancy, it serves authentic Afghan food, including the best tandoori/fried chicken I've had. The taste is great, and the dishes are very authentic.

Best naans in the town. Soft and fluffy. Freshly cooked in front of you. Plus great offer 12 naans for $12. Haven’t tried any other from this restaurant yet but a huge fan of their naans. They have hugh collection of different karahi (dishes). Hopefully they will taste as good as there naans.
