As a huge shawarma fan, I’m always on the lookout for great shawarmas around town. So far, Calgary and Alberta in general have been quite disappointing. However, Uncle Moe’s was rated quite high and fairly close by, so I gave it a try. I’d say, this is one of the better shawarmas I’ve had in Alberta. It was actually quite good and I’d definitely go back. The food tasted good and fresh, which is really all you can ask for. I will say, there are a couple of criticisms. Personally, I thought it was a little light in terms of filling. Maybe a pinch under what should’ve been given. Second, I think it’s better when the pita is split in half/opened rather than left as is as shown in the image. That way, the sauces can penetrate the inner layer more and it feels easier to eat. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend checking out Uncle Moe’s.

If I could rate this place higher than 5 stars, I absolutely would. This was my first time trying a donair and it set the bar insanely high. The donair was incredible, packed with flavour and made perfectly. What really made this place stand out though was the owner, such a kind, friendly, and genuine person. Super welcoming and easy to talk to. Amazing food and amazing service.

Hands down, this is the donair spot I’ve been searching for my whole life. The meat is always fresh, perfectly seasoned, and sliced right in front of you. The sauce is absolute perfection — just the right balance of sweet and garlicky, and they do not skimp on it. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything tastes like it was made with serious care. The staff is super friendly too, which is the cherry on top. Whether you're a longtime donair lover or trying one for the first time, this is the place. I’ll never go anywhere else.
