It arrived smoking hot, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully prepared Palak Paneer & Channa Pindi: The palak paneer was rich, vibrant, and creamy, while the channa pindi had that perfect, authentic blend of robust spices and texture. The Accompaniments: We paired our mains with fresh, hot tandoori roti and beautifully layered, flaky laccha paratha. Saffron Indian Bistro is a must-visit if you’re in Banff! The food was absolutely delicious, and every dish was full of authentic flavors. The Chili Naan was outstanding and is something I highly recommend—it had the perfect balance of spice and flavor. The Dal Makhani was rich, creamy, and comforting, while the Saffron Special Chicken Curry was incredibly flavorful and definitely one of the highlights of our meal. The restaurant has a warm and inviting ambiance, and the patio is a wonderful place to enjoy your meal, especially on a nice day. Its location is also very convenient, right in the heart of Banff and just a short walk from the shopping area, making it a perfect stop after exploring the town. Excellent food, great atmosphere, and a fantastic location. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Banff. Highly recommended!
If you are looking for truly authentic cuisine this is the place. If you like spice then ask for it! They will deliver. We had selection of 2 mains with biriyani rice and Nann bread which was plenty for both of us. One of the best Indian meals we have had. A taste explosion. Service is great very tentative waitress. We were looking for a change of food choice in Baanf. Walked into Saffron - Indian Bistro for an Indian meal without any prior recommendation. The lady who took our order, Tanvi, was very helpful and guided us well in placing the correct order. We had vegetarian food. The Adraki Aloo and the tarka daal (yellow daal) were authentic and very tasty. The tandoori roti and kulcha were good too. The helpings are generous. We also tried an ‘avocado jhalmuri’ as a starter - which was quite interesting and tasted more like a bhelpuri. Overall felt happy having chosen this very Indian place for dinner. Strongly recommend if you are looking for authentic Indian food.
A Flavorful Indian Experience in Banff We’ve visited Saffron Indian Bistro twice, and both experiences were consistently excellent. It’s not always easy to find authentic Indian flavors in a busy tourist destination like Banff, but this place truly delivers. Food & Taste On our first visit, we tried pakora and papad, and both were outstanding. The pakoras were crispy, well-seasoned, and not overly oily. The papad was served with a fresh mix of chopped tomato and onion, which added a refreshing and tangy touch. Their tea deserves special mention—it tasted freshly prepared, aromatic, and comforting, very similar to homemade chai. The next morning, we returned and ordered chole bhature. The dish was delicious, with rich, well-balanced flavors in the chole and soft, fluffy bhature. We had tea again, and it was just as good as the first time. Service & Atmosphere The staff were superb—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. This matches what many previous Google reviews highlight about their hospitality and service quality. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a pleasant place to unwind. Cleanliness The washrooms were clean and well-maintained, reflecting good overall standards. Parking Parking can be a bit difficult, especially during peak hours in Banff. This is a common concern noted by other visitors as well. You may need to park a little farther away and walk. Overall Impression Saffron Indian Bistro stands out for its consistent food quality, freshly prepared tea, excellent service, and clean environment. Despite the slight inconvenience with parking, the experience is well worth it. Highly recommended if you’re looking for authentic and comforting Indian food in Banff.
