Bahar Kabab | Afghan Cuisine

A small halal Afghan kitchen on 12 Avenue SW downtown, run by a husband and wife who cook and serve it themselves - which is most of what the reviews are about. Halal meat throughout as standard Afghan restaurant practice, without a separately listed certifying body. What to order Start with the mantu. If you have only had Afghan kebabs, the dumplings are a distinct dish worth ordering on their own rather than as a filler starter. The bolani and the meat platter are the other two named, the lamb shank is on the menu, and the rice draws its own praise. Chicken and beef kebabs are the regulars' standing order. Good to know Allow twenty minutes. Everything is cooked to order, and reviewers who expected a counter turnaround say so. The menu carries photographs, and the owners will talk you through it. A small room, and it fills - the quiet-looking place at the door is often busy with takeaway orders. Good for groups, with lunch, dinner and dessert, a restroom and free parking. Rated 4.7 from more than 200 Google reviews.
