ElToro Restaurant
Reviews of ElToro Restaurant
from GoogleWe had dinner here recently and left impressed. The restaurant has a spacious and inviting dining area, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. The staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We also appreciated the variety of halal options on the menu. To start, we ordered the Eltoro Salad, and it was a great choice. The combination of creamy goat cheese and caramelized pecans added the perfect balance of richness and sweetness. For our mains, we had the Chicken Eschullado and the Fish Tacos. Both dishes were packed with flavor and cooked really well. What truly stood out, though, were the sauces—they were absolutely incredible and tied each dish together beautifully. Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience. Between the delicious food, welcoming service, and comfortable atmosphere, it’s definitely a place we’d return to. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.
The food is ok, but if you want to be pampered, Pramod is the guy. He is on top of things. You will see him smiling to guests and trying to get them comfortable and happy. I had the Toro burger, not my favorite. Fries to perfection, bacon was crunchy and delicious but the meat, -even well done- was to greasy for me. The scallops on the other hand, where great! Perfectly seared, soft and buttery. Dessert: no. Microwave… taste nothing like chocolate. AVOID! Lastly, a good finding: they sell Pacifico beer here! We know is the best mi gente latino!
We walked into El Toro without a reservation and weren't expecting to find one of the best meals we had in Banff! We ordered the plantain chips with guacamole, chicken tacos (halal), veggie tacos, and the lamb shank (halal) and every single dish was delicious. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The guacamole was a standout—creamy, fresh, and paired perfectly with the crispy plantain chips. The chicken and veggie tacos were packed with flavor, and the lamb shank was tender, and cooked to perfection. They have many halal options. If you're looking for a place with fantastic food, great flavors, and something for everyone, El Toro is definitely worth a visit.
So so delicious and HALAL! Amazing service. Shaggy had the best recommendations and took great care of us. We had the fajita trio, the butternut squash ravioli with chicken, and churros - excellent across the board.
My wife and I had dinner at El Toro in Banff tonight, and the entire experience was outstanding. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Chicken Enchiladas and the Braised Lamb, and both dishes were cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. What truly made the evening special was the exceptional service. Promod, the manager, went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience. He was warm, attentive, and genuinely cared about every guest in the restaurant. What stood out even more was his impressive executive presence. He carried himself with confidence, professionalism, and genuine hospitality, setting the tone for the entire restaurant. It was clear that his leadership positively influenced the team, who were equally friendly, attentive, and committed to providing excellent service. From the food to the hospitality, everything exceeded our expectations. Experiences like this are rare, and Promod and his team should be proud of the atmosphere they have created. If you’re visiting Banff and looking for a memorable meal with exceptional food and service, El Toro is a must-visit. We will definitely be back.
Beautifully cooked lamb! The lamb and chicken are halal, although unfortunately the steaks aren’t. The lamb was packed with flavour and had that incredible melt-in-your-mouth texture. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a great dining experience! We spent under $300 for a family of four, which was reasonable for the quality of the food.
Awesome experience at the Restaurant with Manager Pramod and his team (Sam and others). Food was delicious and served very quickly even with a larger group of guests on the other side. We were a group of 12 and it was an amazing experience at the Banf. Pramod even recommended other local restaurants that we should try while we visit. Thank you once again.
One of the best experiences in Banff! Delicious food served quickly, an amazing exotic drinks menu, and they’ll make anything you ask for. Special thanks to the manager for the outstanding service and care. Highly recommended!
About ElToro Restaurant
Canadian, Mexican and Spanish-influenced restaurant at 429 Banff Ave, at the far end of the avenue in Banff, with halal options marked on the menu. Not everything is halal: the chicken tacos and the lamb shank are, and the steaks are not.
What to order
Start with the plantain chips and guacamole, which diners rave about for its creamy texture. Then the lamb shank, which is tender and cooked well, and the chicken tacos. Finish with the churros. Some diners have also enjoyed the scallops and the fajita trio, but ask which of those dishes are halal first.
Ordering tips
Before you order anything beyond the chicken tacos and the lamb shank, including the braised lamb, the enchiladas and the fajita trio, ask your server which dishes are halal. Staff are used to these questions and will check for you.
Before you go
The dining area is spacious, which suits a family dinner or a small group. Walk-ins get seated, but book in the busy season. Service is friendly and attentive, and diners often mention the manager, who checks on guests and suggests other places to try around town.
