This is a great grocery store with items not found at your typical big box store. I enjoyed checking out every aisle. The snacks look cool - they have imported Haribo candy! They also have a deli with sweet snacks. Staff are polite and friendly. I think this would be a great stop if you're in the neighborhood.

I also frequently purchase their eggs, pitted Kalamata olives, goat's milk cheese, spices, pita bread, and other Mediterranean essentials. The whole wheat pita bread is fresh and low in salt, perfect for health-conscious choices. THOUGHTFUL SERVICE In response to the city’s plastic bag ban, the store provides cardboard boxes and even assists with packing groceries, showing their commitment to customer satisfaction. CONVENIENT LOCATION & EXPANSION Located along 17th Avenue SW, near the LRT station and Calgary Transit, the store offers plenty of parking with reasonable time limits. We really enjoyed our visit to Shaganappi Mediterranean Market. The deli meats were fresh, flavorful, and a great option for halal cold cuts. We were also pleasantly surprised by the selection of halal gummies. The gummy worms were especially delicious and quickly became a favorite with our family! The store had a great variety of products, and we appreciated being able to find halal treats that are not always easy to find elsewhere. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Calgary.

I picked up a whole flat of brown eggs for just $10 (yes, seriously 😳), and everything felt fresh and high quality. The bakery section? Unreal. I grabbed fresh, hot baking straight out of the oven and it tasted like comfort in food form. But what really made the experience was the people. We went in to check out Shaganappi Mediterranean Market and what a wonderful find. The bakery is the highlight — they churn out fresh, hot items daily straight from the oven. The baklavas look delicious!! Beyond the bakery, they have so much more — spices, olives, grains, cheeses, olive oil, snacks, fruits etc. And the staff are so warm and welcoming. Went in for a quick look and will definitely be back soon to stock up.
We ordered 240 of these lovely delicious meatpies for a gathering at our home. They were prepared so nicely, filled with delicious gently spiced ground beef. Highly reccomend this store for baked good, breads, and middle eastern grocery.
We really like this market. At least 2-3 times a week we go there. I like the packed imported food variety. Also, especially the cashier girls are very friendly and helpful. 10 stars to them. I wish the store was open early around 8 am. They can close at 7 pm bit early really would work. 10 am.for a supermarket is quite late for me. Overall 5 stars
Such a great location! They have our favourite Venezuelan treats and we’re so thrilled. The first thing we noticed is how friendly the staff is. Thanks to the ladies for their amazing customer service.

Middle Eastern grocery and bakery at 3919 17 Ave SW with halal meat and halal deli cold cuts, known for its meat pies by the hundred. This is the original Shaganappi Mediterranean Market, running for more than 25 years, and the Macleod Trail SE store grew out of it and carries the same range.
The bakery bakes bread every day, and the meat pies are the big draw. You can order them by the hundred for a party. Cheese pie, zaatar and manakish are the other favourites, and the in-house hummus and baba ghanouj are worth picking up.
The shelves hold halal deli cold cuts, halal gummies, a wide range of imported Middle Eastern goods and spices, and fresh produce at prices below the big supermarkets. The store has expanded recently, so there is more room to browse. Shoppers say the gummy worms are a family favourite.
Before you go
Staff are friendly and helpful, and shoppers often single out the cashiers for their kindness. Parking is plentiful with reasonable time limits, and the store is close to the LRT on 17 Ave. Cardboard boxes are provided in place of plastic bags.
