My wife and I initially went to Modern Steak for a Mother’s Day Brunch. It was unfortunately a poor experience. We were given some gift certificates and invited back, being told to contact the general manager to make our booking. I didn’t want to book through the manager because I wanted to give it an honest second chance. We went for the Sunday Supper yesterday and were blown away. The food was incredible. We were welcomed by some delicious truffle butter popcorn. We went with the Caesar salad and were not disappointed. The “not cheese toast” was so fluffy and full of flavour. The mashed potatoes were seasoned to perfection. The broccolini was very tasty and cooked well (most of the time when I get broccolini from a restaurant it’s either soggy or raw). The ribeye completely floored us and even came with multiple salts to flavour it with which was a unique and fun touch. The baked Alaska was flambéed table side which was entertaining and delectable. Not only was everything so yummy, the portions were quite large and the meal could’ve fed a third person. I’m glad we gave it a second chance. We will definitely be back especially for that Sunday supper meal. I’d go back every week if we could.

Overall, a pretty good steakhouse that delivers on quality and flavor. The steaks were cooked to absolutely tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. The sides were equally impressive and added a fun twist to the meal. The lobster poutine was rich and indulgent, while the onion ring tower was crispy, flavorful, and a great sharing dish. To top it off, Modern Steak also boasts a solid wine selection that pairs beautifully with their menu. Definitely worth a visit for anyone craving a great steak experience with some creative sides.

A great neighbourhood steak house offering specialty steak menu but maintaining a warm, friendly family atmosphere. They won't ask for patrons to dress formal. The service maintains throughout was friendly, efficient and warm. No pressure at all. Food was great and cook right to order. Drinks and desserts are good and at a right price.

I’ve been in Calgary for almost 2 months on business from Vancouver and tried 4 of your so called best restaurants for steaks. This is by far the most superior in regards to quality, execution, tastes and particularly service and attentiveness. I almost never give a full 5⭐️’s even in my own city of many Michelin star restaurants. This restaurant really left an impression on me tonight. Unfortunately I don’t remember the young lady’s name who served us tonight but I’d wish there were more of her in the hospitality industry nowadays. Bravo!!!

This was my first time at modern steak and I am sure super impressed, I am a foodie and surprised I have not tried this restaurant. However, service is top notch, I actually enjoy this place more than chairman’s 🤫 I highly recommend the tomahawk steak and king crab, went amazing together Andrill was our server, he was wonderful but mostly appreciate there team to ensure great service! The manager came over checked in super nice and welcoming staff! I appreciate the amazing service and meal! I will absolutely be back very soon!
