Beirut Bakery & Restaurant

A Lebanese bakery-restaurant on 17th Avenue SW turning out pita pies, manakish and fatayer from the oven alongside shawarma and donair. All meat is halal by the bakery's own account and the room is alcohol-free, with no separately listed certification body. The bakery half is the point Cheese and za'atar manakish, meat pies and fatayer baked through the morning — which makes this one of the southwest's very few halal bakeries, in a city where nearly all of them sit in the northeast. The complimentary fatayer that reviewers keep mentioning is real, and sets the tone of the room. Good to know 4.7 across roughly 700 Google reviews. Closed Tuesdays. Otherwise 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sundays to 6. Inexpensive, counter-style, family-run. Dine in, take out or order for delivery.
