from GoogleThis was our second time here. I should have written a review after the first visit. You might require a reservation as they get busy in the evening. Very good broths, great vegetables, and we ordered the lean meat. Our favorite broths are satay, curry, and tom yum We had Tom yum, coconut chicken soup, and satay on our first visit. Ordering is so convenient. You scan the QR code, fill out your order, and presto the feast starts. You can order combinations, some with seafood, or individually à la carte. The atmosphere is very casual but note the front entrance is tucked away at the back of the high rise. Enjoy looking at the unique sculpture outside the front door. The food was delicious! Also great experience for 2 or more to visit while cooking your selections in the wonderful broths. We will be back!
Here’s a more polished and natural version of your review: It was one of the nicest food concepts I’ve ever tried, especially because we went as a family. It gave us such a good time sharing food and cooking together instead of being busy on our phones around the hot pot. The meat was fresh and very good. The only disappointing part was the seafood plate — honestly, it didn’t feel like seafood at all except for the shrimp. We were served some square and ball-shaped mashed fish items that we didn’t really understand. They had no taste and felt like very cheap frozen food. I truly don’t think they should keep them on the menu because this is the only thing that makes me hesitate to fully recommend the place. That being said, if I come back or recommend it to someone, I would definitely suggest avoiding the seafood plate. The service was very fast, professional, and respectful. The atmosphere was nice overall, but the restaurant could use a little more lighting so people can better see what they are eating, especially with the cooking concept. I also wouldn’t recommend it for children under 8 years old, as they might get bored or make it harder for parents to fully enjoy the experience 😉 Thank you to all the staff who truly cared about making us feel comfortable and welcomed there.
What a great experience, I like how your dinner is so customizable from the broth to the sauce...and everything in between. The server was very helpful in explaining exactly how it works, and was attentive during our stay there. We enjoyed " cooking" our food right there at our table. The choices of ingredients were plentiful, and everything tasted great. Definitely will go back.
Our new favourite spot for hotpot. Used to stick with AYCE places but this place is totally worth the price. We dont mind paying a bit more compared to AYCE places cuz the broth + meat options are sooooo good it outweighs the price. Plus if you stay late enough for their happy hour the meat is even cheaper. But we usually go for the $109 combo with a ring tray of meat. My favourite broth option is either tomato or golden sour and spicy. Tried their tea + milk tea as well. It’s better than we expected! Totally a hidden gem. Did not expect a almost hidden restaurant in the corner of a neighborhood is this good!
We chose Golden Dragon to be our intro into Hot Pot experience. My 10 year old has been asking to try it and we thought there couldn’t have been any better place for it after our experience last night. Now it appears we found a new taste for the whole experience which was beyond just getting served with some prepared food. It was engaging, interesting and almost felt like a sport associated with some delicious variety of meat, seafood and vegetables. It’s a little hidden spot close to the Brentwood COOP. When we arrived there after a hockey practice at Brentwood, the place was packed. It looked magical with the lightings and steam dancing upwards from the boiling pot of soup base located center of each table. As we waited 30 minutes on top of our reservation, the aroma making us even hungry and impatient almost, thinking this calls for a not so good review was completely reverted after our experience :) Not only they took the time to explain us the whole process, the service remained exceptionally positive! Also, to our surprise, this place offers not only Halal meat alongside the regular, they also don’t serve pork. It was a bonus for us as we don’t eat pork. After a full traditional experience, our total was around $92.00 that included a 3 types of soup base, pops, tea, bunch of marinated meats, dumplings, hand rolled noodle(you got to try this), udon, seafood and vegetables. We were full with taste, flavour and a whole new level of experience this tradition. This place seems popular and busy so, please make a reservation beforehand. And to our surprise, they not only offered us a really good discount and offered not to accept any tips to make up for the inconvenience of the waiting at the beginning was really nice touch to complete the experience. They cared about their service and that’s left us with great positive vibes. We highly recommend you to check this place!

Super yummy and halal! It’s fun to play around and see what you like best. You have control of the sauces and add ons. You can also choose your broth, and honestly I always like whatever we get. Really cute traditional seating too! I would recommend getting reservations for larger groups.

In Brentwood at 30 Brentwood Common NW, Golden Dragon Hot Pot was the first halal hot pot in Calgary, and its beef and lamb platters are halal. Other meats are served as well, so ask about anything outside those platters before you order. The menu has no pork.
Cooking at your table
You cook at the table in a broth you choose, from mild up to spicy Sichuan. Regulars like the tomato broth, the golden sour and spicy, and the satay and curry, and visitors also mention the tom yum and the coconut chicken soup. Order by scanning the QR code at your table, then mix and match hand-pulled noodles, dumplings and proteins.
The meat is fresh and very good. The shrimp is the bright spot on the seafood plate, and the broths are very good too.
Before you go
The front entrance is tucked away at the back of the high-rise, so look for it. It gets busy in the evenings, so book, especially for groups. Meat is cheaper during happy hour, and the combo with a ring tray of meat is a common choice. The room is casual and suits two or more, and cooking together makes it a fun family outing. Parking is free.
