from GoogleToday I had the opportunity to shop at Bangla Bazar for the first time and purchased some meat. Unfortunately, when I got home and checked it, I found that it was not in acceptable condition. I called the store to explain the issue, expecting at least some understanding or an effort to resolve the concern. Instead, I was told, “This is what we sell,” and was even questioned about whether I knew how to prepare it properly. Rather than addressing the complaint professionally, the conversation became argumentative. Customer service is just as important as the quality of the products being sold. When a customer raises a concern, the minimum expectation is that they are treated with respect and their issue is taken seriously. What makes this more disappointing is that a friend of mine had a similar experience with the meat department a few weeks ago, where staff were reportedly rude and dismissive. This feedback is not meant to attack the business but to highlight an area that clearly needs improvement. Good customer service, professionalism, and respect for customers are essential for any successful business. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and works on improving the customer experience
Very disappointing experience at Bangla Bazaar. The cashier spoke to me in Hindi, and when I said I don’t know Hindi, instead of switching to English, he questioned why I didn’t know it. This is Canada, and English should be the default for customer service. It felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. Respect customers’ language preferences.
Very well stocked store, having all desi grocery items. They were so accommodating that kept store open for me after closing hours as I had to pick up urgent items as I was flying out early morning. Highly recommended for Al grocery needs. Excellent service.
Okay place for Bangla Groceries. Shelves are generally overstocked risking falling when taking out stuff from them. In store walkways are narrow. Shopping carts lock within store and not even parking lot making it difficult to carry things over to the car on a bad weather day.
Very nice place for Banhladeshi and Indian Bengali foods in Calgary NE. It is much cleaner now but still that stink from their open butcher shop at the back end of the store is unmistakable. Just for the sake of clarity I am not Bengali but I do buy those huge Rohu and Katla fishes. Their veggie selection has improved a lot. Prices are usually a little bit on higher side but overall a good place for bengali grocery.
0/5 – Rude Service, Overpriced Meat, and Poor Quality I had a very disappointing experience at this store. The meat was overpriced, and the staff member at the meat counter tried to overcharge me and treated me disrespectfully. The customer service was unacceptable, and the overall experience left me frustrated. I will never shop here again, and I would not recommend this store to anyone.

I travel from Banff to Calgary just to get some bengali groceries. This place has meat and mostly every bengali spices and sweets. I wish they had more vegetable options available. But overall a good store.
Lately the quality of fishes at the store has been poor, with smells and poor quality. Complained, no customer issue addressing on their part.Have been a regular customer at this store until now. Had to throw away 150$ worth of fishes.

Meat and fish are cut to order at the counter rather than pre-packed, so you can ask for the cut and size you need. Check what you have bought before you leave the counter, so everything is right before you head home. The counter is the place to ask for exactly what you came for.
The shelves
The desi shelves are well stocked, with Bengali spices and sweets that are harder to find in other shops. One visitor travels from Banff for them, and a shopper says the store has all the desi grocery items. The shelves are full, so there is plenty to choose from, and the spices are worth picking up for home.
Before you go
Shopping carts stay inside the store, so on a wet or cold day, plan how you will carry heavy bags to the car. One shopper praised staff for staying open to help with an urgent pickup.
