Reviews of Mazaj Mediterranean Cuisine
from GoogleWe got the large beef shawarma and a beef platter and we were stuffed leaving, the gentleman working also let me try one of his desserts. We will definitely come back the next time we are in Calgary. Great experience
We tried the donair and mixed platter. The portion sizes were good. The service was also good, only 1 person working so it is a bit slow. The food was flavorful, the donair was very crispy and tasty. I enjoyed the meal. The prices are on higher end though, he charged us $3.44 for a 500ml Coke Zero bottle, which is pretty expensive. I would come again.
I usually don’t like to write criticized reviews but the food is below average close to none ordered beef platter with three pieces of falafel …the rice is blasted in the microwave for more than five minutes the salad was normal nothing special lemon and vinegar . The beef was leathery, hard burned and tasteless to be honest i felt it was one or two days old . That they took out of the fridge and placed it on the grill till it burned. The hummus was off had some funny taste to it . As for the falafel was oily and tasteless fried till it is crispy to a point you are eating oily crispy leftovers …. Unfortunately my experience was very bad and i paid $25 not worth it i could not even reach half way and i walked away.
5 Stars Honestly, some of the best shawarma I’ve had in the city. The meat is perfectly seasoned with those delicious crispy bits, and the garlic sauce is elite. Fresh, fast, and super yummy. Definitely my new go-to spot downtown! It’s hard to find authentic flavor like this in the heart of the city. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a satisfying, high-quality meal!
Went here after buying the bus pass as I am a fan of Shawarma. Very nice owner as he saids he is the only one working here bought the donair shawarma and it is pictured below. Also bought a Falafel as those are really cool and nice to eat. Restaurant is very clean and stylish with good atmosphere watched him cook the meat himself live good wrapping skills and service.
The food is delicious and the owner is very kind. Would recommend the Mazaj platter & the homemade baklava!
Amazing food, Quality service, Friendly staff
At first the portion size seemed very small. Once the server was done loading up the plate it actually looked really nice. Good presentation and decent service. I got the chicken and beef mix and both of the meats were really good. Decent sized beef but not too much. Taste was really good as well and priced nicely. Only thing was that the rice was microwaved but oh well. Alot of other shawarma places do that nowadays anyways but still not complaining
Excellent food and service.
About Mazaj Mediterranean Cuisine
A sit-down Lebanese restaurant at 230 7 Ave SW downtown, known for its mixed grills and a wide spread of mezze, uses halal meat throughout.
What to order
For a group, the mixed grill covers several cuts in one order. The large beef shawarma and the beef platter are well seasoned and filling, and one large order is enough for most appetites. Diners praise the donair as crisp and tasty, a good pick if you want something different from shawarma. The homemade baklava is worth ordering for dessert.
Before you go
It has a kids menu, so it works for families. The owner often cooks the meat himself, so order early if you are in a hurry. The restaurant also serves wine and cocktails, so keep that in mind if you would rather avoid alcohol.
Diners say the portions are generous and the owner is kind, and the garlic sauce is one to try.
