Reviews of Foothills Medical Centre
from GoogleVisited on Friday, Aug 14 — Having to get an ultrasound-guided core liver biopsy is naturally nerve-wracking, but my experience at Foothills Medical Centre (Special Services Building) was world-class from start to finish. They allowed my wife to be by my side throughout. Everything ran right on schedule, and the ultrasound technician Melissa and nurse Bree (I'm so sorry if I got the names wrong) were super friendly, exceptionally compassionate, taking extra care to keep me calm and at ease throughout the entire preparation and procedure. I was aware beforehand that Dr. Chris Smith was the absolute best in his field, and that could not be more accurate. Aside from the initial local anesthetic freezing, I didn't feel a thing. His medical expertise and bedside manner are truly top-tier. Afterward, my recovery at the Day Medicine unit was comfortable...a room with a view. The nursing staff went above and beyond to check on me and keep me well cared for. People often discuss the challenges facing AHS, but the next-level clinical skill, efficiency, and compassionate aftercare I experienced here are world-class. This was my first hospital procedure in 20 years, and I leave feeling truly grateful and blessed to have been in such safe hands. Thanks guys !
I had a disappointing experience at the Emergency Room at Foothills Medical Centre on August 1, 2026, around 1:39 PM in Unit B. The staff member Farooq did not allow me to stay with my mother, even though she does not speak English and I needed to help her communicate with the medical staff. I was told the area was too busy , When I explained that my mother needed my help, I was told, “What will you do if I don’t let you in?” This made me feel dismissed and not treated with understanding. The place was not crowded anyway. I also saw other people being allowed to enter with patients, including someone helping another person with translation. It made me feel that the rules were not being applied the same way for everyone. I understand that healthcare workers have long shifts and deal with many patients, but I hope they remember that every person coming to the hospital is going through a difficult time and needs care and understanding. A little compassion can make a big difference. My mother was already worried and unwell, and I did not want her to feel alone while seeking medical help. I hope the hospital looks into how family support and language assistance are handled for patients who need it
Unfortunately had to visit the ER last week, due to a life-threatening, incurable health issue 😞 From the triage nurse (Billy) to my fellow patients in the waiting room, it was a compassionate and gentle start to my experience. People were respectful, friendly and quiet (it was late at night when I arrived). The kindness continued into the intake area, where the ER physician (Dr. Su) and nurses (Jess, Melissa, and Rachel) provided exceptional care! The porters and staff in the diagnostic imaging department were also wonderful 👌 I was admitted to Unit 42, where the level of care was beyond anything I've ever received in a hospital previously! I was in an isolation room (standard protocol for my symptoms but not actually necessary in the end...it was okay though - no roommates! ...lol 😉) yet the nurses (Maria, Abiola, Kathleen, and ESPECIALLY Tania) and the physician attending to me (Dr. Chacko) made me feel like I mattered and was loved! 🥰 Tania, specifically, helped me feel less alone and scared, which was so important to me, as being in isolation can be a depressing experience. The HCA, Amarilla, was also attentive and sweet, as was the lady who cleaned my room. They didn't just provide superior medical care, they made sure I felt safe, not alone, and genuinely cared for 🥹 We shared stories and lots of laughs, despite how incredibly ill I was! 🤣🤣🤣 I cannot adequately express how THANKFUL I am for everyone I encountered at Foothills! You all made a difficult and frightening experience less so! God bless you all!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Life changing medical support and life saving interventions. I met many members of the care team. Most were excellent, although a few were less caring and compassionate than others. Overall, the level of patient care was very good. The building itself is quite old and sometimes dirty, but I did not let that interfere with the quality of care I received. Overall, I felt well supported.
The staff in the ER were very kinda. Unfortunately I had to wait 12 hours to be told I was fine. When clearly something is wrong because my symptoms of abdominal pain have persisted for over 2 weeks. To be told it's simply IBS is a copout! I waited to see a doctor for over 7 hours, when the online wait time said 3 hours and 50 minutes when I got to the hospital. Not sure why you guys took in a girl who had a potentially broken thumb over someone who has had abdominal pain, which could be lethal compared to a broken finger! I've lived in NW calgary my entire life, and I've been to the foothills a few times and NEVER had the wait this long! Not to mention those 12 hours were spent sitting in a crappy chair. I've also never experienced that before either. Any time I've ever been to the ER I was given a bed. You guys can't expect people who are in excruciating pain to remain calm when they are uncomfortable for 12 hours! You need to do better! Might as well have just stayed home to suffer in pain!
Disgustingly dirty, lack of patient care
this is a hospital..?
I was born here. Nothing other really to say but cool hospital.
Stay away !!! I Would never give birth here ! Any hospital is better than foothills labor and delivery. I Was treated horribly at this hospital because they ONLY wanted to support a c-section. I Was forced to labor in the hallway in front of everyone and denied a room for over 24 hours. They claimed I needed to be an active labor, but I was pregnant with twins and my water broke. baby was almost born in front of everyone in the waiting room while waiting for a birthing room. No one believed me baby was coming. I was given no bed or food for over 24 hours. I was treated horribly by doctor Brian hauck! ZERO bedside manner. Any OB is better than that man, he should find a new job that doesn’t work with women. That man is a surgeon not an OB. He told me he was going to watch both babies die if I didn’t consent to his c-section. Disgusting that he has to fear monger. I Will forever live with birth trauma because the hospital refused to support me. The hospital treated me absolutely horrible and they do not care !!
