Halal Lebanese commercial bakery on 23 Street NE, with a retail counter at the front. The Byblos pita sold in supermarkets is baked here. Counter staff have not always been able to confirm the halal status when asked, so check before buying anything with meat. The counter is a big display of breads, pastries and sweets, and not everything is labelled, so ask staff what things are. The meat pies have a light, flaky crust and are a favourite. The discount section at the back has desserts and bread at lower prices. Before you go It is takeout only, and the yard is tight. Trucks come in to pick up loads, and drivers are asked to reverse in from the street because there is little room inside. If you want the kunafa plain, say so when you order.
