Tried the Smash Cheeseburger with Tater tot poutine and everything was amazing. Looking forward to trying everything on the menu over the next while. Just friendly service and food that is mouthwateringly tasty. Don’t let the small location and Bowness strip mall discourage. Like so many great finds it’s a hole in the wall, where gems are found.
This place took me a bit by a surprise, it's only take out but everything we ordered was pretty good, the service was excellent and the prices were very fair, plenty of parking and it's easy to get to.
Tried this place in Bowness for the first time and got the Arabic shawarma bites with fries. The shawarma bites were really good — flavorful, well seasoned, and definitely the highlight. The garlic dipping sauce had a great flavor. The fries were good too and honestly reminded me of Costco food court fries - smaller portion of fries, could be a bit more generous with them. The place itself is definitely more of a hole-in-the-wall takeout spot with nowhere really to sit and eat. Service also wasn’t particularly friendly during our visit. The main reason I docked a star was the wait time. There wasn’t really a line or many people around, but it ended up taking around 35 minutes after being told about 10. For a small takeout-style place with no seating, I think speed and communication are pretty important. Overall though, the food itself was tasty and I’d probably give it another try. Not sure what the other items are like. Menu is halal.
Lovely owner! Appreciate the complimentary tea and the amazing service! Love having local fresh food in Bowness !! The kebab with rice combo is my favourite with fresh homemade garlic sauce !
We ordered a buffet-style chicken shawarma and donair meat platter for 24 people for a weekend getaway. It came with lettuce, pickles, onions, and tomatoes. Everyone made their own shawarma with their choice of sauces: garlic, sweet sauce, hummus, hot sauce, and tahini. The donair meat was soft and full of flavour — not like the usual chewy texture some donair places have. The chicken was very flavorful too. Their location is such a convenient pitstop if you are headed to the mountains. The owner has a generous heart and always offers Arabic coffee when you go. Portion sizes are great too.

This review is long overdue and I can’t wait to visit this wonderful restaurant again! First time I came here I was greeted and welcomed with extreme kindness from the Flame & Bite Team & Head Chef Feras (Apologies my friend if I spelled your name wrong - this man is truly ONE of a KIND) The food he made was delicious, fresh and with a generous amount of portions for the price I paid. He gave me lots of great recommendations and all of them were great. They have a wide variety of recipes made for everyone - from vegetarian, kids, to even catering for big parties or family gatherings, they have it all!! From the wrap, poutine, fatoush salad (complimentary) and lentil soup (which was amazing - made me feel at home) everything was just simply perfect and he also gave me a free desert to go with my feast (rice pudding - which also made me feel right at home and put me to sleep with a smile on my face) Absolutely the best experience! I can’t wait to visit these guys again as they treat you like family and everything on the menu is a must try!!! Garlic sauce made in-house and halal meat throughout are the draw at this Egyptian shawarma shop in a Bowness strip mall at 7930 Bowness Road NW. The space is small, so it works best for takeout or a quick bite.
What to order
For a first visit, order the Arabic shawarma bites with fries and ask for extra garlic sauce on the side. Diners say the bites are flavourful and well seasoned, and the garlic dipping sauce has a great flavour. The kebab with rice combo is a good second order, and the smash cheeseburger with tater tot poutine is worth trying once you have worked through the shawarma. The fries are good, and the homemade garlic sauce is the highlight.
Good to know
The staff are warm and welcoming, and the owner often offers Arabic coffee or tea. The menu covers vegetarian options and a kids menu, so it suits a mixed group. Parking is free and plentiful, which helps if you are headed toward the mountains and want a stop along the way.
Catering
For a big order, such as catering for a gathering, ask ahead. One group ordered a buffet-style chicken shawarma and donair platter for 24 people, and everyone built their own wraps with a choice of sauces, which made it easy to feed a crowd.
