I read a lot of comments on Reddit claiming that Beirut Street Food was the very best Shawarma in Calgary and I had to try. I think I can safely say it is fine but it isn't as good as it is touted. To start with the positives; the store is clean, and well maintained. The staff is polite and were enthusiastic. Lunch was bustling, and the handmade pita bread was soft and easy to eat. The pickles and salad are very nice. No wait to get a table either, which was great. The main negative to me was the meat. I've tried both the chicken shawarma (as a sandwich) and the beef (as a platter) on two different days. On both occasions the meat tasted overcooked and excessively salty. Moreover, despite being made over charcoal, there is no charcoal taste. (I cannot explain why; they are clearly BBQing over a charcoal fire in the store) The first time I ate there, I thought I was crazy (as this place is well reviewed, on both Reddit and on Google). However, after two times, I think I can safely say that I stand by my opinion. I should be clear that I'm *not* saying the food is bad; other than the meat it was nice! However, it just didn't feel distinctive. I think it is a nice neighbourhood spot, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Stopped in for the first time to get some take out. Purchased a donair wrap. It smelled amazing in the store and there were hot charcoals and meat turning over them. I was very excited. However when I got home and bit into the donair, I noticed the meat was quite dry and has a crust on it. I don’t know if this is their “thing” but I prefer moist meat. The sauces and other toppings appear fresh and the rest of it is tasty.

One of the best shawarma wraps I've had. Very fresh ingredients. The fries were crisp and seasoned well. The toum however could be more garlicky. This is one of my favourite sauces and it should not be this mild. Also the entire restaurant smells like gas and charcoal making it a little hard to enjoy.

Beirut Street Food was a great experience. The meat shawarma was absolutely delicious flavorful, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The service was also very kind and welcoming, which made the visit even better. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Really delicious food. We got the beef shawarma and Donaire with fries and everything was super flavorful without it being too greasy. We also picked up the hummus and we're very happy!
