Masala Authentic Indian Cuisine
Reviews of Masala Authentic Indian Cuisine
from GoogleMy wife and I enjoyed our dinner in this restaurant 3 years ago. Now, 3 years later, we (with 2 other friends) enjoyed our dinner again. The food was delicious and well prepared. We loved everything (see photo) we ordered. The meat was tender, and the shrimp and fish were fresh. Everything had distinct and wonderful flavors. The service was prompt, efficient, attentive and friendly. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. The only issue I had was that I got quite thirsty after our dinner. However, that may be because I had not drunk enough water during the day.
Fantastic Indian cuisine in Banff! The prices are insanely reasonable, especially considering the portions. Even the drinks are some of the most affordable in Banff. Service is warm and the food is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend stopping by for lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed!
My family was in Banff for a few days and every time we passed by this restaurant, the fragrance of the spices made our mouths water. We knew we had to eat here at least once before we left. The butter chicken was rich and had the richest tomato base of all the butter chicken I've ever had. There were so many naan options, from your more classic butter naans and garlic naans to naans more rarely seen on menus like onion naans and coconut naans. Naans are usually the side accompaniment to main dishes but the naans at Masala really exceeded expectations: the onion naan had green onions folded into the naan, while the coconut naan had coconut cream and shredded coconut folded in. The beef samosas were crisp and tasted freshly made; the wrapping was thin and the samosas were filled well. The mango lassis were also thick and rich. I highly recommend eating at Masala!
Came here because I was looking for halal dinner in Banff and they confirmed everything on the menu is halal. Tried Masala Restaurant and honestly, the food was so good. The chef’s choice masala biryani was the highlight—definitely the best thing I tried. Also, the garlic bread was sooo delicious, I didn’t expect it to be that good. Overall, really nice spot if you’re craving something flavourful and satisfying.
We had an amazing experience at Masala Restaurant in Banff! The food was absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors, and every dish was cooked to perfection. The service was friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. Our food arrived quickly with no unnecessary wait, which made the experience even better. The quality, taste, and portion sizes were definitely worth it. If you’re looking for great Indian food in Banff, I highly recommend this restaurant. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Tried their Fish Kadiwala and it was absolutely delicious—very flavorful and well-balanced. The Chilli Chicken was good, though it didn’t quite have that authentic Chinese-style taste. The naan was light and fresh, and the polao was decent and satisfying. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. It was quite busy on a Saturday evening, but they still managed to accommodate us nicely. Overall, a good dining experience with great service and some standout dishes 👍
About Masala Authentic Indian Cuisine
Indian restaurant cooking from a wood-fired tandoor in the Wolf and Bear Mall at 229 Bear St in Banff, where the whole menu is halal.
What to order
Order the chef's choice masala biryani and the butter chicken, which has a rich tomato base that one diner called the richest they had tasted. The fish kadiwala is the less obvious pick and is well flavoured. Try a specialty naan, such as onion or coconut, since the naan comes light and fresh from the tandoor. The beef samosas are crisp, and the garlic bread has won praise too.
What it is like
Portions are large, and the prices are low for Banff, drinks included. The Indian dishes are the highlight, from the tandoor to the curries. Service is friendly and attentive, and the room is clean and comfortable.
Before you go
Parking is free. Busy evenings fill up, so book ahead, since the restaurant takes reservations.
