Major Tom Bar

An upscale restaurant and bar forty floors above downtown, with sweeping views over the city - and its halal-certified Benchmark Angus beef and chicken dishes make it a halal date-night pick with very little competition at this level in Calgary. What to order The dry-aged bone-in striploin and the steak frites are the dishes named most, with the duck breast, the crab roll and the steak tartare behind them. The cheesy toast is the side everybody mentions. The Baked Alaska is the dessert, and it is very sweet. Good to know The pasta is the weak spot - rigatoni and campanelle both draw the mildest reviews on an otherwise enthusiastic page. Book, and ask for a window. The view is half of what you are paying for. Dine-in only, at the top price band, good for groups, with step-free access. Rated 4.4 from more than 2,600 Google reviews.
